A Message from Anthony K. Shriver
Dear Team Maria, Congratulations on what I hear was an incredible weekend! I am so sorry again to have missed one of my favorite weekends of the year, riding alongside all of you with unbelievable views on the Pacific Coast Highway. From the inaugural Mountain Biking Experience to the perfect riding weather to a sendoff from the Pointer Sisters, this year’s event was an amazing way to say thank you to my sister, Maria, for her 12 years of support! This year alone, the Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle raised $4.5 million in donations, brought together more than 2,000 cyclists, runners, walkers, and supporters and enabled our organization to make a meaningful impact in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. On behalf of Maria and myself, we cannot thank you all enough for the support and celebration this weekend. We’re so proud of what this dedicated group of supporters has been able to accomplish over the last 12 years, and this weekend has shown me once again what an amazing group of people can do when we come together to support inclusion and friendship. As Best Buddies Ambassador Michael Goldman says, “I could not be where I am today without the recognition of my abilities by Best Buddies and my company’s commitment to diversity in the workplace as well as outreach to the community. And I could not be where I am today without the full support and encouragement from friends and family.” As a supporter of Best Buddies, you make all of this possible.
Thank you for your involvement, passion, and commitment to Best Buddies, and thank you for taking the challenge with us. We’re excited to continue the spirit of friendship that makes Best Buddies so special and hope you’ll join us again in 2016! In friendship, Anthony K.
