Member Spotlight: Sean Cottier Molloy
Name: Sean Cottier Molloy City of residence: Malibu, CA Occupation: Producer & Event Coordinator How long have you been involved with Best Buddies? This will be my fifth year as a rider and I am beyond excited to be a part of this fabulous team of people once again. There is no place I would rather spend my weekend than the Best Buddies Hearst Castle Ride.It is a privilege and honor to be a part of TEAM MARIA and the wonderful and inspirational Best Buddies Program.
Together We Ride! What inspired you to join Team Maria and take on the Challenge? A few years ago, while working in the entertainment industry, as much as I enjoyed my work, I felt a vacancy in my life. I had an invitation to join Maria Shriver and her team to help produce the Women’s Conference. Sometimes all it takes is a little change to realize how great life can be when you begin working for a cause, especially one as important as Best Buddies. While collaborating with Maria, Donna Lucas, Tamara Torlakson, Susie Sheinberg, Carl Bendix, Justin Knighten and a host of others on the life changing Women’s Conference and Maria’s March on Alzheimer’s, I began to grasp what can be accomplished when people work together as a team. Once I joined Best Buddies and did my first ride, I met Anthony Shriver, Scott Tracy and their mind blowing team of folks that make this entire event possible. I knew then, that no matter how much weight I gain, no matter what city I live in, no matter what job I have or don’t have…I would give something to Best Buddies.
Over the years Team Maria has become the champions of the ride and I am humbled to be a part of the ride and our Team. What is the most rewarding part of the Challenge for you? No reward is greater than when you ride across finish line with bells ringing, voices cheering and you meet a buddy, smiling so bright that you cry. Your legs and shoulders might ache, but the hug that you receive from that buddy is what will change your perspective on life.
No shoulders are hurting more than those of the families and friends you will meet at the finish line
That first year I met so many wonderful people.
Right there I realized how I can help someone else live a better life.
Thank you Anthony, Maria and the entire Best Buddies Team.
